The Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, and Reception
The Church:
Getting married at the same church that I went to school at for 9 years was a full circle moment for me and something I had dreamed about ever since I was a little girl. Knowing that my parents had gotten married there on the same alter over 35 years before us was very comforting and an awe inspiring experience.
Since we had our beautiful intimate elopement during the summer of 2020, it was extra special to say our vows in front of all our family and friends in church a year later.
The Cocktail Hour
I wanted our Cocktail Hour to be a fun inviting space that incorporated personal touches that represented us.
It was on the patio of the clubhouse and overlooked the beautiful greens and lakes of the golf course.
Special Touches:
Most of our personalized touches came from Etsy, and I wanted to give a shoutout to the creative artists here:
Guest Book Display (I wanted a unique version of a guest book that we could display in our home and be instantly reminded of all of our loved ones who attended our special day)
Personalized Dog Napkins (we had to incorporate Gunner into our wedding and this was the perfect way to do it!)
Photo Ladder I loved the idea of paying homage to our parents and grandparents, that came before us. Growing up my grandparents had a wall in their home that displayed everyone's wedding photos, and I wanted to emulate that same type of love at our cocktail hour. Our families got a big kick out of seeing pictures from over 60 years ago on everyone's wedding day. Photos are something that holds a very big significance in my life, and I loved hearing the stories each photo held when I was a young girl, I can't wait to pass down the story of our wedding to our family one day.
Welcome Sign We used this last year at our elopement too!
Escort Table Wooden Sign -This was completely DIY-ed by my amazing wedding coordinator Sarah Parks from Details Darling! I sent her a few Pinterest pictures for inspiration and she ran with it! (Table Number cards from Zazzle)
Live Music Our incredibly talented DJ/MC/Saxophonist Tyler Varnell! He really knew how to start the party and had our guests on their feet all night long.
The Reception
Early on in the planning stages I had journaled down the following words for inspiration:
Rustic Romance
Old Southern California Mission Style
Floral Garden Dinner Party
Blue, Peach, Sage, and Ivory
It was important to us that our venue for the reception was a reasonable driving distance from our Church where the ceremony would be at. We were very lucky to discover Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, that perfectly embodied all of the criteria we had envisioned
Table Setting:
I wanted the flowers to tell most of the story. I had envisioned everyone to walk in and be greeted by a sea of romantic colored lush florals. I had the most amazing experience working with Naomi from Beautiful Savage Flowers, and I highly recommend her for anyone looking for an amazing florist. From the beginning she literally took images from my Pinterest board and brought them to life in her mock up and I immediately knew it was going to be wonderful. She used a beautiful assortment of free flowing blush toned blooms; full of ranunculus, peach roses, lisianthus, and an abundance of silver dollar eucalyptus.
I chose the linens, along with everything else on the tables, to compliment the flowers (the real stars of the show), so I chose gold charger accents with ivory table linens and napkins (all supplied through the venue).
All of our paper goods (invitations, menus, church programs, signage for table cards and escort sign, etc) I designed through Zazzle.
Cake and Cookie Wedding Favor: Butter + Cream Bakeries (my favorite childhood bakery, formally known as The Great Dane)
Cake Topper: Etsy Artist Guest Book Studio
Cake Cutting Set: a gift from my friend Lauren, off our Anthropologie registry
